Like many, I was saddened to learn that Paul Newman had died. He played countless great parts in many memorable films; but of his roles, the one I admire the most is that of unabashed liberal. He proved that a bonafide Hollywood leading man could also be a humble, caring person attuned to important social issues. He was a role model for personal and corporate philanthropy, demonstrating that it is possible to build a socially-responsible business and make it a financial success. And he showed that age is not always an obstacle for staying active and passionate about what you love.
I'm not one to get all spiritual, but here's a hymn for Paul Newman and his family, sung by Mr. Newman himself from the great movie "Cool Hand Luke."
